Q. Who can be admitted to Cape Hawke Community Private Hospital ?
A. Any person requiring hospitalization and referred by their doctor.

Q. What Health Funds is Cape Hawke contracted with ?
A. Cape Hawke is currently contracted with all health funds and the Commonwealth Department of Veterans’ Affairs (Tier 1).

Q. Can I be treated as an inpatient if I am not privately insured ?
A. Yes. A fee applies to all services – some patients elect to pay in lieu of carrying private health insurance.

Q. Will I be able to elect to be admitted to a private room ?
A. Yes. There is a total of 21 private rooms.

Q. Has Cape Hawke Community Private Hospital been awarded Tier 1 Status with the Commonwealth Department of Veterans’ Affairs ?
A. Yes. This means that as for public hospitals in NSW, your doctor will no longer need to gain prior approval for an entitled Veteran or War Widow to be admitted. This became effective 12 February 2001.

Q. What is the Infection Rate at Cape Hawke Community Private Hospital ?
A. Infection Rates remain at less than 1% annually over the past 6 years – well below the Australian Council on Health Care Standards threshold of 2.6% to 3.8%.
